Supporting Data Migration from Legacy Systems

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) wanted a solution provider (Oracle) and delivery partner (Version 1) to help with the migration of data from their legacy systems, and crucially that could help transform the Council’s business processes to unlock efficiencies identified in the business case.

SMBC chose Version 1 as their Oracle Implementation Partner following an open and competitive procurement process based on Version 1’s understanding of the Local Authority Sector, 25+ years’ experience of Oracle Applications and Version 1’s partnership approach to solution delivery.

This was successfully achieved based on an end-to-end Oracle Cloud Suite implementation including Oracle Cloud Finance, Procurement, HCM and Payroll to deliver a new modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system designed to transform the way that SMBC delivers critical back-office services to their community and customers.

The success of this project has been down to the dedication, relentless effort, and commitment of both SMBC and Version 1 teams working in true partnership. The Senior Leadership team, Senior User team and Subject Matter Experts in SMBC worked tirelessly and pragmatically with their Version 1 counterparts in a “2-in-a-box” approach, that ensured that both parties had Subject Matter Expert (SME) coverage for each functional area.

SMBC understood that an implementation such as this could not be “done to them” but rather required it be “done with them”. The project team brought their respective expertise and knowledge to the project and delivered a robust system including 5 payrolls. Following a successful go-live, the service has transitioned seamlessly into Version 1’s ASPIRE Managed Service, which will enable continuous innovation from Oracle’s SaaS Suite, supported with continued close collaboration with SMBC business SME’s.

“This has been a successful implementation in so many ways and the whole team involved in its delivery should be very proud of what has been accomplished. For Version 1, it has been an absolute pleasure working with SMBC. Their Senior Leadership team are “all in” and applied a level of governance that is second to none. Their Project Board members are dedicated, passionate, committed and engaged.”

We wanted a modern system that would enable us to continue delivering high quality services to our staff, residents, and customers; thanks to the tremendous effort and dedication from colleagues working together we have achieved this.”
